Jazz Opera Based on Civil Rights Unionism

A new jazz opera, composed by Steve Jones and directed by Elise Bryant of the Labor Heritage Foundation in D.C. is being staged at the end of March. The opera is inspired by Civil Rights Unionism: Tobacco Workers and the Struggle for Democracy in the Mid-Twentieth-Century South, by Duke University professor and SLSA President Bob Korstad.
