Directions and Accommodations

The Teamsters Archive is at the top floor of the Estelle and Melvin Gelman Library, 7th Floor, The George Washington University, 2130 H Street NW, Washington DC, 20052. The building is on the corner of 22nd and H streets. You will need some form of picture ID to enter the building. After you exit the elevator, walk straight ahead to find the archive.

Public Transportation

The closest Metro station is the Foggy Bottom stop on the Orange and Blue lines. As you exit the station, turn right and walk one block to the first stoplight (H Street). Turn left and walk 1.5 blocks to the Library, which will be on your right.

Driving Directions

From North: Interstate 95 South to Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) toward Silver Spring/Northern Virginia. Take exit 33, heading south on Connecticut Avenue for about 9 miles. Turn right onto Florida Avenue, NW (just past the Washington Hilton) and turn left immediately onto 21st Street, NW. Turn right on I Street, NW. The Gelman Library is on the corner of 22nd and H Streets, NW.

From Northwest: Interstate 270 to Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) toward Silver Spring/Northern Virginia. Take exit 33, heading south on Connecticut Avenue for about 9 miles. Turn right on I Street, NW. The Gelman Library is on the corner of 22nd and H Streets, NW.

From West: Interstate 66 and Route 50 both connect with the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. Cross bridge and exit at E Street, then again at Virginia Avenue, NW. Bear left, following signs for 23rd Street, NW. Turn right on 23rd Street, NW and continue a few blocks to campus. Turn right on I Street, NW. The Gelman Library is on the corner of 22nd and H Streets, NW.

From South: Interstate 395 to Arlington Memorial Bridge exit. Cross the bridge and veer left at the Lincoln Memorial. Turn left on 23rd Street, NW and continue a few blocks to campus. Turn right on I Street, NW. The Gelman Library is on the corner of 22nd and H Streets, NW.

Parking

Many parking garages are closed on Saturdays. The nearest one open is at 21st NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, just below and around the corner from the TGI Fridays.

Accommodations

We recommend the State Plaza Hotel, which a refurbished deco hotel at 2117 E Street N.W 20037 Washington, D.C., a short walk from the Gelman Library.
